GSTN has rolled out a game-changing online facility, enabling eligible taxpayers to seamlessly withdraw from the option availed under Rule 14A of the CGST Rules via Form GST REG-32 on the GST Portal. Effective from February 21, 2026, this digital upgrade brings much-needed flexibility for businesses looking to opt out of the simplified registration scheme.

This enhancement provides a more seamless and transparent way for registered taxpayers to manage their compliance preferences directly through the GST portal eliminating the need for manual intervention or offline correspondence.

Rule 14A allows certain taxpayers to opt for a simplified GST registration with specific compliance norms, like restrictions on declaring output tax liability exceeding ₹2.5 lakhs on supplies to registered persons. If your business dynamics have changed, withdrawing now lets you revert to standard GST rules for smoother operations.

Who Can Apply?
  • Active taxpayers currently registered under Rule 14A.

  • Must have filed minimum returns: 3 months (if before April 1, 2026) or 1 tax period (on/after April 1, 2026), plus all due returns from registration date.

The withdrawal link appears only if you're eligible no pending returns, no ongoing amendments!

Step-by-Step Filing Process
  1. Log in to GST Portal → Services > Registration > Application for Withdrawal from Rule 14A.

  2. "Option for Rule 14A" auto-sets to No—add your reason for withdrawal.

  3. Complete Aadhaar authentication (OTP or biometric) for Primary Authorised Signatory + 1 Promoter/Partner.

  4. Submit draft within 15 days; authenticate within another 15 days to get ARN.
